THE LOST
My grandmother and I shared one heart.
But now, there's only one part.
Dangling around my neck,
A heart of gold.
A gift uncomparable to my grandmother's soul.
In moments like these, she may not be near.
But my grandmother and I shared one heart.
Therefore, I have no fear.
Therefore, I know she's near.
My grandmother and I had a heart pendant together. She had my initials, I had hers. However, the one I wear is my own. We lost the one with her initials on it.

My grandmother passed away back in May of this year. I did not get to say goodbye due to the situation with COVID.

This necklace is something I carry with me majority of the time. I never take it off as it became a reminder of the love I have for my grandmother. So, this poem became a story of the lost and the loss of the necklace and my grandmother. But, it is also a gift that reminds me of the love she spread on this earth.

We may have lost her heart, but she's a light that still shines today.
